I first studied this book in 1994 when I had the urge to learn how to use
the nunchaku correctly. I chose it because it was by a well known author and
karateka and also it contained pictures and text. Details of kata and kihon
were included so it appeared to be a good book. The initial attempt to learn the Bu Ho no Kata from the book was very difficult as it is neither a short kata nor an easy one in terms of techniques but after many bruises and frustration in facing the wrong way etc, i did manage to learn the kata from the book. Having more experience in this area now, I find it a very useful and well presented book from which i can review my kata and remind me of the detail required to improve it. the textual sections are interesting and informative. i would not recommend it for a complete novice wishing to learn nunchaku as one is naturally led into a quite complex kata and with the kihon in static picture form is is not possible to see the body mechanics required. |
